Kleinostheim, Germany – UTA Edenred, a leading mobility service provider in Europe and an Edenred company, continues its ‘Champ on the Road’ event series, which recognizes the hard work and challenging conditions faced by professional drivers on Europe's roads. In conjunction with several acceptance partners, UTA Edenred launched the event days at select service stations in several European countries and will continue to organize such events throughout the remainder of 2025. These initiatives are directly oriented towards professional drivers, who keep the whole continent in motion through their efforts. The objective is to support them by offering free meals and gifts after refueling their vehicles. Giveaways include practical equipment, travel accessories, snacks, and refreshments.
The second ‘Champ on the Road’ event ever organized in Romania, in partnership with Rompetrol Downstream, took place in the Rompetrol fuel stations from Orastie, located on the A1 Highway (lots 8, km 340+500, both sides), on the 10th of July. After refueling, the truck, van, and bus drivers received a gift from UTA Edenred, as well as a coffee and a lunch menu from Rompetrol.
Adriana Grigorescu, Commercial Director at Rompetrol Downstream, said: “We are happy to once again be part of this initiative dedicated to professionals on whom we all depend — the drivers of heavy vehicles. Without their contribution, nothing in society would move forward, so it is our duty to show them our full appreciation. A moment of rest, a bit of relaxation, and quality products will always be found in our gas stations. Moreover, those located on the A1 motorway, Sibiu – Nădlac segment, have implemented the hei coffee&gourmet concept, dedicated to assisted service with restaurant-style dishes. We encourage all those traveling long distances to take their well-deserved breaks, and Rompetrol can provide the perfect setting in the Pecica and Şagu stations (Arad County), Recaş and Giarmata (Timiş County), Orăştie (Hunedoara County), and Cristian (Sibiu County), all located in integrated service areas. We thank our partners at UTA Edenred, who came up with a commendable initiative that we will support every time.”
Other ‘Champ on the Road’ events in 2025 are already planned for Poland, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and further countries.
The ‘Champ on the Road’ event series was introduced by UTA Edenred in 2023. Over the past two years, a total of 22 events took place in more than ten European countries.
Lukas Schneider, Commercial Director EMEA at UTA Edenred, says: "UTA Edenred values the hard-working professional drivers’ contributions to the European economy and we are happy to organize this dedicated event series for the third year in a row. We want to express a warm welcome to this year’s new event locations along our campaign route and thank our acceptance partners for their cooperation in organising these events.”

The company operates a network of 1,181 fuel distribution points, consisting of its own Rompetrol stations, Rompetrol Partner stations, as well as mobile stations — Rompetrol Express — and internal bases (tanks of 9 and 20 cubic meters installed within the premises of companies from various fields such as transport, construction, agriculture, etc.).
In addition, the company operates six fuel depots nationally, around 280 Autogas (LPG) filling stations, and over 7,000 distribution points for LPG cylinders and Rompetrol household gas bottles.
The retail division of KMG International Group launched its first gas station equipped with electric vehicle charging stations in 2017. In 2018, it completed the installation of solar panels at one of the Rompetrol stations in Bucharest — a first for Romania and the Black Sea region.
This year, Rompetrol Downstream is celebrating 20 years since the launch of the "hei" concept, one of the company’s most well-known commercial brands. Currently, "hei" includes around 230 points in Romania and the region — stores offering a wide range of products and dedicated areas where specialty coffee drinks and fresh dishes are served, with recipes developed in collaboration with hospitality experts. Launched in 2005, it was the first Romanian brand dedicated to the store activity within a fuel station and has continuously developed, in line with Rompetrol customers’ expectations, market trends, and technical solutions, being expanded regionally as well (Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia).
