Rompetrol implements the project “Development of Rompetrol infrastructure for the supply of alternative fuels in key locations across Romania”.

The KMG International Group is implementing, with the support of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, through the Connecting Europe Facility program, its second investment co-financed by European funds. This initiative targets the development of a national network of electric charging stations for light and heavy-duty vehicles across 26 locations in Romania.

The companies Rompetrol Financial Group, Rompetrol Downstream SRL and KMG Rompetrol Development SRL, part of the KMG International Group, are implementing a new strategic project to develop electric charging infrastructure for both light-duty vehicles (LDV) and heavy-duty vehicles (HDV) in 26 locations across Romania.

Project Objectives:

  • Development and expansion of a modern electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including the commercial and heavy-duty segment, tailored to current and future mobility market needs.
  • Creation of an alternative fuels infrastructure corridor by installing ultra-fast charging stations along the Trans-European Transport Network in Romania, within existing fuel stations, facilitating electric mobility on strategic routes.
  • Support for the energy transition through investments in sustainable infrastructure and implementation of integrated electric mobility solutions, in line with the Group’s decarbonization strategy.
  • Alignment with European Union requirements on electric mobility and leveraging EU funding to develop solutions that meet market needs and strengthen the company’s position as an integrated service provider.

Specific elements of the project:

  • Installation of 13 high-power charging stations (350 kW), each equipped with one charging point dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles (HDV)
  • Installation of 17 charging stations with capacities between 150 kW and 300 kW, intended for light-duty vehicles (LDV)
  • Development of a network consisting of 30 charging stations, totaling 45 charging points

Investments
The total estimated value of the project is approximately €8,200,000, of which €2,010,000 will be provided by the European Union. The project duration is 30 months, running between June 11, 2025 and December 11, 2027.
